Prepare a reliable print setup and fix scaling, paper-position, or PDF problems.

Use the right settings

  • Paper: use US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) for the standard check layouts.
  • Scale: choose Actual size or 100%. Turn off Fit to page and Shrink to fit.
  • Sides: use single-sided printing for check stock.
  • Source: print the downloaded PDF, rather than the web page or a screenshot.
  • Tray: choose the tray containing the correct stock and check its feed orientation.

The website prepares the PDF; your PDF viewer and printer control the physical print settings.

Test before using check stock

  1. Review the check’s full PDF and choose the top, middle, or bottom layout that matches your stock.
  2. Print one copy on plain paper using the same tray and scale you plan to use.
  3. Compare its position against the stock. Check the payee, amount, signature area, and number line along the bottom.
  4. Correct the paper size, layout, or printer settings and repeat the test until the positions match.

Confirm any paper, ink, or toner requirements with your bank and printer supplier. The screen preview cannot verify physical print quality or bank acceptance.

Fix misalignment

Everything is too small or too large
Check for Fit to page or automatic scaling. Return to 100% and confirm the paper size.
The check is in the wrong part of the sheet
Choose the matching top, middle, or bottom layout. Scaling is not a substitute for the correct layout.
The print is upside down or on the wrong side
Check how the printer feeds paper. Test its orientation with a marked plain sheet.
The bottom line is clipped
Check the printer’s printable area, paper size, and full PDF preview. Stop using the misaligned setup until the whole check prints clearly.

If the PDF will not open

Try Download PDF or Open PDF when offered, then open the saved file in a PDF viewer. If the app shows a retry or secure-generation option, use that recovery action. Save your draft before refreshing the writer.

After a workspace check prints, confirm the successful paper print. A downloaded PDF alone does not mean the check was printed. See Check statuses & voiding.
